Bolandcycletour day 5 – Southernmost tip of Africa

The route for Friday 20 February 2026

One of our longer days in the saddle. In a car, this is one of my favourite roads to drive, with wide open spaces and long swooping bends. And on a bicycle, we get to appreciate the undulating hills even more. Have a look at what the elevation profile does as we approach the coast – with and entirely flat finish as we reach the sea. Well, maybe a just a few Dutch Mountains, as we are heading due South, after all. And be sure to look out for animals in the last 30 odd kms. There are 3x water points 💦 or stops along the route, as below

First at 30kms, which is close to or at where Van Brakelstoor used to operate, where you can expect something similar to what we had at the Penguins.

Second at 57kms, at the Astron garage on the left hand side of the road as you enter the town of Napier, where you can buy a variety of snacks and drinks.

Third one at 74kms, as we exit Bredasdorp, after the right turn onto the coastal road, on the left hand side of the road, where we will provide drinks and the basics for the last flat stretch to the finish line.

For the next two nights we stay at Langezandt Fishermans Village in Struisbaai

A beach lifestyle getaway Seaside Destination and Picturesque Coastal Village. Where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet at the Southernmost tip of Africa. This beautiful Beach Estate offers an exclusive and immersive experience, from the stunning beachfront properties to the cosy cottages in the heart of this secret hidden gem.
