Short route for Wednesday 25 February 2026

Short day to the rock-climbing capital. We start in Swellendam and finish in Montagu, but not before scaling 3 hills (also from the DC), and a photo opportunity at the Old English Fort as we enter Cogmanskloof pass. Not to worry though, this is more of a flat winding road through breathtaking rock formations and less of an Alpine pass. In fact, between Leeurivier, Bakoond, Remhoogte and Cogmanskloof, you technically will have completed 4x mountain passes by the time we finish, even if it didn’t feel so.
- ☕ There will be a single stop, at Spanspek-se-plek (33kms into the ride) along the way, where we invite you to join us for coffee (each rider for their own account directly with the farm stall) – and the usual water table will also be available on site.
Tonight we stay and wine and dine at Mimosa Lodge in Montagu

19 thoughtfully appointed rooms, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay. Guests at Mimosa Lodge can unwind and enjoy a variety of activities, including: A refreshing dip in the pool. A leisurely game of boule. Relaxing in the comfortable lounges or the bar. Dining at The Restaurant at Mimosa Lodge, renowned for its wholesome cuisine, crafted from fresh, locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Many of the vegetables and herbs used in the kitchen are grown in Mimosa’s own garden.

And good news for 🍻 BEER lovers – there is a Route 62 brewing company directly opposite the Mimosa lodge where we stay. Feel free to make you way here for a tasting, and do ask Maura for some notes!

By popular demand the majority voted to start off early and leave around 8.30 in order to skip the wind and sun and get to the finish line early to have a few beers and own lunch at the Route 62 Brewing Co. opposite Mimosa Lodge while waiting for the 2pm check-in
